100% Ownership of Maxon

Not sure if this has already been posted but I checked and could not find it.

 

Don't want to get into the politics of whether its good or bad news but the stated focus of the new CEO is 'interesting'.

 

My own 2 cents is that they should focus more on partnering with Unity/Unreal as Autodesk has, or at least provide a much better pipeline than currently exists, in order to realise the stated goals rather than reinvent the wheel.  I wish them the best of luck.

Well, all of 3D forum posters pretty much agree,

that retiring founders, get 100% of shares and a new CEO from another company,

would be just a normal behavior to arrange things properly before you sell

that company to the other company.

 

So they all expect to get C4D by their Adobe CS subscriptions very soon

and affordable.

 

Adobe already has very tight integration of C4D in many areas and now it could

finally get their missing VR/AR platform.

Maybe the second target of AEC Visualization could mean that e.g. VW will still

be allowed to RW Render in the future.

Come on Zoomer... Don't fall for and spread the speculation. No one outside the company has real info. Every year the Adobe panic....

Hmmh, for me its relevant.

When I see recent dynamic and changes eroding

my whole 3D ecosystem from different ends.

 

I din't hear any Adobe/Maxon rumors every year so far.

Except one time where I thought that would be totally impossible.

Now I would say it is not totally unlikely.

Well if it helps, my operating framework now and into the next releases is to assume Maxon CineRender is the built-in render engine for Vectorworks.  Even if the company structure changes again (which I haven't heard) there would be agreements that we can use the engine continuing for years without switching to something else.  So stability is the word of the day.  Having the company owned 100% clarifies to us that we can rely on this engine for our needs.

Agree.  I tend to not harp on software development except when it comes to stability *cough 2018 *cough  But I was surprised that UVs got no love in that update.

I didn't use that Blob Boolean Modeling in Modo for my hard edge

modeling in Modo, now it's in C4D too but it looks far easier to use.

Improved CAD import unfortunately is meant as mechanical CAD only

and not DWG ACIS solids.

I still hope that updated existing Imports will help though.

 

Node based materials is ok but will mainly help to get used to Blender.

 

My personal highlight is the Instances option in FBX !

That may help to export VW (via C4D) to Modo.

Pity, the Instance option in FBX will reach VW RW Cinerender in

VW 2010 first.

Definitely !

It works great with Instance Support in R20 FBX.

Hope so much that this also found its way anyhow into VW 2019's CineEngine (R19 ?)

for direct FBX Export without intermediate step by C4D.
