Assign class to object, but not to subobjects?

Is there a way to assign a class to a Vectorworks object WITHOUT changing the class of its subobjects? Afaik SetClassID also changes the subobject's classes which is not wanted and causes lots of problems and delays in some situations.

What should be the purpose of the class of the sub object, should it affect the drawing visually, even when the parent is set to another class? 

Does this class changing involves plugin objects?

I don't think there is a function available that can do it, as it's default behaviour.

I believe the only way is to force a class (or custom settings) on your subobjects. 

 

My guess is that the recalculate event uses the parent class for all created content in that container.
