Nurbs Curve with Set Line Length

Recommended Posts

I am trying to plan out some LED TAPE and need to curve it.  Given that LED tape is cut in sections I need to be able to set a "locked" length and then curve it to make my shapes. How can you create a line that you can curve without changing the overall length? I tried Nurbs at a set length and then edit it vertices but it keeps changing the length. Help you be appreciated.

You could experiment with the Deform tool in the Bend Solid mode. This will allow you to bend a piece of LED Tape without changing the length. It won't work on a Nurbs curve, but if you create a Nurbs surface then that works fine. To get a simple Nurbs curve out of this you will need to use the Extract tool in Extract Nurbs mode to get you the Nurbs curve you desire.
