mike m oz
NATSPEC’s new BIM Object Properties Generator is an online tool designed to assist the standardisation of BIM object properties. The Properties Generator addresses the issue of inconsistent approaches to BIM object data modelling by providing a common reference for object designation, property sets and property naming. It will reduce the huge duplication of effort currently invested in object creation across the industry. The properties included in the Properties Generator have been drawn from global open standards such as IFC, COBie, and BIMForum LOD Specification. Classification data for major systems such as NATSPEC, UniClass, Omniclass, Masterformat, and Uniformat is also included. The first release of the tool includes over 120 objects and their associated properties. This initial set of objects is confined to generic architectural and structural objects, primarily aligned to the corresponding elements from the IFC schema. BIM-MEPAUS already provides standardised MEP content. Properties can be filtered by preferred sources, e.g. IFC2x3, IFC4, COBie, and by categories such as cost, FM, geometric and sustainability data. The properties of the objects selected can also be downloaded in PDF and Excel files, from which CSV and XML files can be created for sharing or importing into BIM applications. The Properties Generator will assist content creators, product manufacturers, and project teams create readily exchangeable content based on open BIM standards. By specifying their data requirements to the same standards with the Properties Generator, client organisation can ensure the data they receive meets their requirements. https://propgen.bim.natspec.com.au Quote Link to comment
