sta 500
i have users on vectorworks 10 on windows 2000/xp, mac osx and mac os9 workstations workgroup referencing works between the osx and windows users as the server name and file path is stored in the same format e.g. 'x:\project\file' os9 vwks v10 stores the referenced file paths as 'server::project:file' this appears to be a significant shortcoming in the software and am hoping there is a method that allows windows, osx and os9 to co-exist and reference data? regards sta 500 Quote Link to comment
jfmarch
i would certainly upgrade to one level for all computers. we don't use windows, but have successfully used wg references since they were introduced by VW. we, though, have never had difereing operatinbg systems for out stations (we have up to 6 at a time), they are always the same. Vectorworks, Inc Employee Bruce Ferguson Posted August 13, 2004 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted August 13, 2004 sta 500, If a file is opened and it has a reference that doesn't work for the reason you explained, then delete that workgroup reference and recreate it. Quote Link to comment
sta 500
thanks for the advice but recreating refernces for all files for all live projects whenever you open them is not a workable option there must be others who use wg refs between os x and os9, how do they get around this? jfmarch
you could try the 'reselect' button on the workgroup reference dialog box... Quote Link to comment
skip
We use macs running MacOS 9.2.2 and MacOS 10.5.3, all with VW 10.5.1. Workgroup refs work just fine in both directions for us. Quote Link to comment
