SgtPepper
Does anyone know what controls if you can see objects outside a symbol or not (when you are in editing the symbol). Some symbols allow me to see all context outside and some seem to exist in a totally different location when I try to edit them. Very annoying when it happens as it's impossible to use any reference geometry from outside. BTW I'm mainly talking about traditional 2D methods of drawing Thanks Quote Link to comment
cxs
Check your Class and Layer visibility settings. When you edit symbols, you can still control those settings. Quote Link to comment
Hans-Olav
Hi It might be that the symbol is flipped or mirrored, when editing you are brought back to the original unflipped version. Quote Link to comment
markdd
If you edit the symbol from the resource browser then you will not be able to see any external geometry. If you edit the symbol by double-clicking from a design layer then you will be able to see external geometry as long as the symbol isn't flipped and as long as you have enabled the "show other objects....." option in Vectorworks preferences or from the tool bar where there is a button to toggle this function. Hope that helps. Quote Link to comment
SgtPepper
Hey, I think the flipped symbol is what caused it. Thanks all. I also noticed the same visibility issue happening when the user origin isn't set to the internal origin. I can see outside the symbol when I reset the origin. Quote Link to comment
