Bruce Kieffer
I'm trying to understand why both of these option exist? I see what the differences are, but why would a person want to apply a texture to a wall by object rather than by component? Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
The biggest reason would be someone who was not using components. Or someone who is using components, but doesn't want to take the time to set up all the class textures right now but needs a quick render. 1 Quote Link to comment
Bruce Kieffer
Good to know. I see that if a person made a "fast" wall and wanted to add a siding texture. I think that's what I did when I made my house drawing many years ago. Now that I'm updating the file I have redundancy of tetures that I have to resolve. Vectorworks, Inc Employee Dave Donley Posted February 22, 2018 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted February 22, 2018 The modern way would be to use Wall Styles, which would be "by component". By object exists to do it the old "texture part" way. Quote Link to comment

I've been stymied by the endless class attribute settings associated with doors and windows, most of which seem redundant and unnecessary. Quote Link to comment

Well observed Bruce. Not the first time this has been proposed. Sometimes it feels like it'll take a big broom for that clean. (Funny though) othertimes it feels like using VW is like an old pullover - it's got holes and doesn't even fit quite as well as it did (ahem, must start that diet) but it's comfy!!
