Multi Storey Stairs

I generally use this set up but may vary it a little depending on how many floors there are and how consistent or inconsistent flights are going up the building:

Ground Floor = 1 Stair Object

2D Graphic settings:

Lower Floor = Break, Dashed Above

Upper Floor (1st floor) = Above Break Only

1st Floor = 1 Stair Object

2D Graphic settings:

Lower Floor = Below Break Only

Upper Floor (2nd floor) = Above Break Only

2nd Floor = 1 Stair Object

2D Graphic settings:

Lower Floor = Below Break Only

Upper Floor (Top floor) = Plain (no break) OR Break, Dashed Below OR Above Break Only

Top Floor = No Stair Object

Thanks for the reply Christiaan however I really need to model it accurately in 3d as our fire engineers are modelling within the fire stair.

Its also over 6 Storeys for this project, on another it is over 13. I just thought they maybe a simple way to make the stair objects 'aware' of other stairs or adjust the railing to simulate a continuous

handrail.

I've just ended up creating a handrail in the "draw handrail" tool that appears to give the correct effect but obviously this will not adjust with the stairs if they change.

Thanks Chad,

With our fire stairs in a multi storey building generally the handrail is continuous in a fire stair to aid in "fall protection" even across the landings.

I ended up modelling a group that appeared continuous and duplicated it up the building basically as you said.

Cheers
