Recommended Posts

I can't seem to find a straight forward tutorial on how too use the cloud rendering?
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thank you

Will do!

In the meantime, these are the bullet points:

1) Cloud Rendering will render all viewports on all sheet layers that you submit to it.
2) You submit sheets for cloud rendering under Cloud > Cloud Publish.

3) Select all sheet layers and saved views you wish to render, select on the bottom left what format you want them to be processed as (PDF or Images for rendering) and click the arrow icon to bring them from the list on the left to the list on the right.

4) With the items on the right selected either individually or in multiple selection, choose the desired File Export Options for that format, and then click Publish.

The data will be uploaded and your Cloud Services icon in the menu/task bar can be clicked and if you select Status, it will show you the current stage or progress of a cloud job. Renders will be completed and placed in your cloud storage folder as the images or pdfs you selected for output.

I have two elementary questions to begin with:

  • Does it matter where the file you're working in is saved? Does it need to already be in the Vectorworks Cloud Services folder?
  • Is File<Publish the same command as Cloud<Cloud Publish? The dialog box I see seems to be the same in either case.

My experience has been:

Yes they have to be in your cloud services folder,  or allegedly dropbox if you have it linked to cloud services,   but I haven't had much success with the dropbox link.   You'll also need to upload any fonts to vectorworks cloud that are special.  For now I've just added aliases from the dropbox folder I want to my cloud services folder, and that works.

Publish is the same,  you just have to change your storage dropdown to one of the cloud folders:   (and your output file needs to be saved to a cloud storage location)

Is cloud services a separate cost, or, part of vectorworks 2018 package?

Can you continue to work on the vectorworks file while the sheets/images are being rendered in the cloud?

It's part of service select.    Yes,  you can continue working while cloud rendering is occuring.

Hello,

The Vectorworks Cloud Services Help contains a lot of the information that is being asked for here. Here is a link to it:

https://cloud.vectorworks.net/portal/help/ - This page shows only featured articles. The full set of articles are on the side navigation menu. Each article has tabs, which allow you to read on a particular topic for each component that applies.

You may want to read all of it, but the specific articles that refer to cloud processing are:

https://cloud.vectorworks.net/portal/help/pages/prepare-vwx-files-for-cloud-processing/

https://cloud.vectorworks.net/portal/help/pages/generate-3d-models/

https://cloud.vectorworks.net/portal/help/pages/generate-pdf-files/

https://cloud.vectorworks.net/portal/help/pages/publish-files-from-vectorworks/

https://cloud.vectorworks.net/portal/help/pages/export-rendered-panoramas-from-vectorworks/

https://cloud.vectorworks.net/portal/help/pages/export-web-view-from-vectorworks/

I hope this helps.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Regards,

Iskra Nikolova
