Instrument Summary Component List

ctros19

Question

Hello VW Forum,

Trying to setup a template to include preferences for the Instrument Summary Layout. Anyone know how VW auto adds instrument symbols to the content list with the default Instrument Summary? If I change the Component List, ex. add a new header or rename a header, VW will no longer add the symbols automatically and they must be added manually.

Thanks

When an Instrument Summary object (ISO) is inserted into a drawing, the tool will search the data base of symbols within the drawing and anything with an attached Lighting Instrument Record will be inserted into the ISO and listed by "device type". If there are no symbols with that record attached then nothing will be added. This is a one-time operation. Thereafter, you will need to add the instruments manually by dragging the appropriate instrument from the Left hand column into the Right hand column of the "Build List" where you can manipulate how they will be displayed on your drawing.

As far as layout is concerned, that is built into the tool. When a ISO is added to a drawing a discreet ISO record is made that will store your settings for the object so that any subsequent ISOs take on the properties set by the first object. Sadly this does not include header names and formatting etc. To store that, you will need to make the object a Red Symbol which basically means that it is stored as a Plug-in object in your resource browser. (when creating the symbol, check the box that says "Convert to plug-in object"). This will carry all the settings and headers with it whatever drawing it is added to and as long as the symbols are in the file it is added to, it will display those as well.

You can change some of the default settings for every insertion of the ISO in every drawing by changing the parameters in the customisation section of the plug-in manager, but that is more of a permanent option when you are entirely happy with what parameters you like. The Plug-in Symbol option is the one that I prefer.

I hope that helps work things out.
