Connect/Combine to recognized objects within groups.

I know this has been asked before by me but could we please have the option for the Connect/Combine Tool to connect to objects within groups?

For example:

I have a bunch of lines and rectangles in a group.

I have a line outside that group that I want to extend to a line inside this group but the group doesn't exist for this tool....doesn't even recognize.

My cursor otherwise recognizes these objects for snapping references but not for extending lines to.

I don't want my line to join the group, just extend to a legitimate object within it.

Can we please have this functionality?  It seems silly that we don't.

 

I apologize if this has come up recently and I didn't notice.

edit:  Actually I meant to say "extend" to objects in groups, not connect.
