J. Wallace
@rjtiedemanI'm interested to see what route you go. I'm in a similar situation with a 2012 era MacPro. I love it but its days are numbered. I'm not that keen on the iMac pro as I have a hard time using the large glossy monitors. Thanks for your post. Quote Link to comment

I have been watching the tests on http://barefeats.com of both Imac Pro and 2018 MBP. If one is to get the New MacBook Pro you have to purchase a eGPU to match the performance of the 8c Imac Pro with the VEGA 64 GPU. But you can't take your Imac on the road with you. Its a minimum of 5K either way so it makes you give pause. 1 Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted September 11, 2018 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted September 11, 2018 Really hoping for some Mac Pro news on weds, but that may be a long shot. However, they may indeed be turning in a healthier direction if this is any indication:https://www.macrumors.com/2018/09/10/apple-imac-pro-customer-survey/ I'm ever hopeful for Apple. The fact that people still use Mac Pros, some nearly 8 years old at this point, is a testament to not only how advanced a product they are capable of making, but how much value for money you can get when you have quality hardware from day 1. I hope they return to that practice. I'm insulated a bit since I use both platforms heavily, but I'd be more than happy for my main high power rig to be a Mac once again. 1 Quote Link to comment

They did similar about half a year(*) before announcing the sad nMac Pro. As Apple always needs 7 years for everything, this is much too late to take user thoughts into consideration. (If they would have listened to my answers at that time, the nMac Pro would have looked quite the opposite from what is actually sitting on my desk) I think the only purpose of these surveys is to estimate the production needs before its release. (*) maybe an indication that they present mMac Pro in Spring 2019 (And hardly ship at the end of a late 2019) I also doubt seeing anything about mMac Pro on Wednesday (or October) I would already be happy if the unveil a Mac Mini at the event (or more likely at another October Event) Edited September 11, 2018 by zoomer 1 Quote Link to comment
