Jibbe D'hondt
Hi! I want to "add solids" to a model I created but it won't let me do that, how? It says this: (I have full Benelux Vectorworks version btw) Quote Link to comment
Kevin McAllister
What happens if you run the Add Solids command a second time after clicking OK to the warning? Normally VW will deselect the offending objects and allow you to add those that remain selected. From there you can see what VW didn't add in and figure out why. Kevin Quote Link to comment
Jibbe D'hondt
Than it won't work either! I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. For school I just needed to place my extruded floors on each other and than needed to add solids and than add a cube around it so we could trim them at a height of 1m50. Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted December 12, 2017 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted December 12, 2017 Make sure that all of the objects are solids, no lines or images (I can't tell from the screenshot what object types you're adding) and you can also try just selecting two items at a time that overlap in 3D and adding them individually. You can also post your file and I can take a look. Quote Link to comment
Jibbe D'hondt
It won't make the object solid Quote Link to comment
Jibbe D'hondt
Is it possible to send a copy so you can take a look maybe? Quote Link to comment

Jibbe D'hondt
(Don't mind the objects in the background). The cubes around the "building" are the spaces that I want to cut from the building, so each time you can see the floor cut at 1m50. Opdracht 1 - Kubussen (Plooimodel).vwx Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted December 12, 2017 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted December 12, 2017 The objects have no fill. I broke apart the groups and found that many of the objects inside had a fill of None in the attributes palette. Setting the fill to solid allowed me to add the shapes together as expected. Jibbe D'hondt
Are you able to send it to me? Thanks! Quote Link to comment
Guest egidoro
Why this message opening the file?? Edited December 13, 2017 by egidoro Quote Link to comment
Kevin McAllister
I'd be curious about this message too. I'm used to the fingerprinting/watermark message but I've never seen this one before. I understand why the copy protection exists between the student and professional versions but to not be able to even open and view the file is new to me. I often get asked to help people problem solve files (colleagues, students, instructors with student files). Kevin Quote Link to comment
