Add Surface Functionality

Evan Hill

Question

In previous versions of Vectorworks, I could draw 2 shapes and use the Add Surface function, and even if the shapes were not touching, the one on "top" of the other in the view would assume the other's class and applied attributes. However, in 2018, this no longer works. If the 2 objects are not touching, "Add Surface" has no effect. I liked to use this to quickly assign to a new shape a class or custom attributes already assigned to another shape, but without needing to actually merge the shapes in order to do so. This had always worked as a default in 2017 and earlier. Is this functionality of Add Surface no longer available, or is this an option I can turn on somewhere?
