bsamailey
Hi, I am looking to model a simple pond / swale but can't seem to figure out the best way to do it. I can create a site model using the highest and lowest contour easily, and that gives me the shape I desire but the volume is incorrect as it measure that which is on the outside of the pond and not, if you can imagine, what the pond can hold. Any tips for creating this? Many Thanks S Edited November 30, 2017 by bsamailey Quote Link to comment
ericjhberg
I have tackled this problem by using a pad site modifier that represents the surface elevation contour of the water body. If your pond is modeled as the existing site model condition, then the pad modifier will fill the pond to the set elevation in the proposed version. You can then use the cut/fill calculations to determine your volume. The fill volume should equal your pond volume. Quote Link to comment
Benson Shaw
@bsamailey I show another technique for water volume in this thread: https://forum.vectorworks.net/index.php?/topic/51994-generating-polyline-contours-at-specific-height/ First few posts are not as refined, so see the posts from 11/30/17 and 12/01/17 You need to model the depression, but can “fill” it with water via a solid subtraction.
