Eureka Moment On "Invisible Stuff" outside a Viewport

Jim Smith

Question

Perhaps others have struggled with this, perhaps it has been answered elsewhere but I thought I'd share:

I sometimes wondered why some Viewports were "larger than the page" even though there was "nothing" there. I found what was happing:

In many cases I will set the distance of Section Viewport to an arbitrary number & adjust if required. In this case 20M. The Viewports where the Section Line Instances are (plan viewports) indicate, when highlighted the extent of the Section Line, in this example 10M beyond the back wall & past the Viewport & drawing's boundary ! If one edits the Section more carefully & have a Section Line with a limit (in this case 10M) the Viewport is about the size one would anticipate.

^ had this too.

Another option are "scaled" DWG blocks, where the geometry looks ok but

its selection bounding box may not recognize the scaling.

And my problem, also for a Fit View in DL,

Cameras or lights that need at least a grayed class activation are included

in Fit View bounding area.
