Vectorworks 2018 Revit Import

Question

Trying to import a building interior revit model from an architect with settings below. File size 256mb . Vectorworks 2108 starts the import elements window but the progress bar does not advance, the thumbnail flashes, but reads 0:00 and the ball keeps spinning. Left it to process over the weekend and there was no further progress on the import elements bar.

Tried importing as active view only, turned off import textures and it worked but only produced a unusable fragmented 2D furniture plan of one floor.

Running on Mac Pro with OS 10.11.6 , 3.5Ghz 6 core Intel Xenon, 32 GB

Any suggestions?

Hi, TDM

I would start by turning off textures and texture mapping and changing "Import other objects" to Meshes. I'm guessing (because i'm not an engineer) that this is the lowest-memory impact import. If that works in a reasonable time, try turning textures back on and re-importing. Good luck!

Heya,

I am having the same issues on some large files even using meshes and turning off textures.

I sent the files to my local distributor, and he had the same issue. Is this where we submit bugs?

Cheers.

Hi All,

The best way to import revit files is when the file is saved in 3D View ( for example: {3D} View ) and then use default import options like on the image:.

If it is impossible revit file to be saved in 3D View or we do not know for sure that it is saved in 3D View than it is best to use  "3D Model View" option:

When revit file is big (more than 100 MB ) the import may take several hours. If with these options you still have problem with importing the files please submit bugs.

Best Regards
