Sky
When I use VW2018, countertop objects no longer display a solid line for end finish and a dotted line for non-end finish sides. It just shows them with a solid like which is misleading when viewing in plan view. Is this a known issue? Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Vladislav Peichev Posted October 16, 2017 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted October 16, 2017 Hi, Skyler Here is a reply from West Gardner - SENIOR ARCHITECT PRODUCT SPECIALIST: Quote Hi, Here’s my take… Yes, if it’s placed in a class, it should use class attributes. However, here in the States, the way you SHOULD show a countertop is as a continuous surface. This means that there should be a solid line for the end finish but for non-end finish sides, you should show NO LINE so that the countertop “reads” as a continuous surface. For this reason, many folks use the Floor Tool or even an extrude to get their tops to show properly. In this sketch, the cabinets are shown dashed and the countertop is shown as a continuous surface with NO BREAKS. Sometimes, this is reversed where the cabinets are shown as “hard” lines and the countertop is shown dashed. Using that style, the cabinets ARE shown as individual units but the countertop is always shown continuous. Let me know if you need further help. Seems that this is not a real bug - see also attached image. Best Regards, Vladislav SOFTWARE ENGINEER http://www.vectorworks.net Quote Link to comment
Sky
@Vladislav Peichev Your suggestion that this is not a bug seems utterly absurd. Your further suggestion that I should not use the Counter Top object or the Counter Top option in a Base Cabinet object and instead use the FLOOR TOOL or manually make an EXTRUSION to solve my counter top problems is even more absurd. Why even have a Counter Top object if it can't display correctly in 2D? 1 Quote Link to comment
