Steven Kenzer
I see 2018 SP1 has been released. Is this considered High Sierra compatible now? Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted October 11, 2017 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted October 11, 2017 Not completely, but these are the only remaining issues I am aware of specific to High Sierra that we have actively tracked that were not able to be addressed in SP1: The package manager crashes sometimes when launched from within VW. (The Resource Manager can be used to download all content at once now instead of the Package Manager, so this one is moot.) The VW Site Protection Server doesn’t launch properly. The Plant Database can sometimes crash because the filemaker application that runs separately sometimes crashes on 10.13. If you are not impacted by these 3 items, you should be good to go. zoomer
Since I already finished my crash prone DLVP work, I do my typical BIM work - crash free since 3 days in a row. For me VW 2018 + High Sierra feels at least as stable as VW 2017 was under Sierra. Quote Link to comment
Steven Kenzer
Sounds like a "green light" to me......time to upgrade. Thanks, Zoomer. Quote Link to comment
zoomer
Not sure if all people using Sheet Borders already calmed down since SP1. I see some strange PIO Style things happening, but so far I found all needed workarounds at the end. I think negative influence on old features or readiness of new features of VW 2018 is far better than from VW 2016 to VW 2017. Currently I stuck in a completely optimized VW 2017 workflow. So I have no real experience with real new 2018 features. But I already enjoy the little improvements. Resource Manager works smoother and less restricted in use, more PIOs now stylized, the new "all by class" button everywhere and such things. I have only one day of SP1, for me it was already ok to work in 3D BIM with SP0. Yes, a green light from my side, but you may use completely different features. Better make a copy of a typical project and play for 2-3 hours before you migrate all projects Edited October 12, 2017 by zoomer 1 Quote Link to comment
