grant_PD
How does one export a view without setting up a sheet layer? I have two views that I want to export. They are cropped perspective shots, and I would like them to export at a specific dpi. But when I go to the publish command, the "current view" option is grayed out upon exporting an image. zoomer
Export Image File should do what you want. It is not easy to get an exact amount of pixels out easily, but DPI works. Quote Link to comment
grant_PD
Yes, but when I go to export image file, it tells me it wants to render everything first, then rerender to export, why can't I just publish and have it be batch? I guess I have to set up a sheet layer.... Quote Link to comment
zoomer
Well I ranted so much about it in the past. I don't use VW to create any serious images as long as it is as it is. I sometimes do DL screenshots by my Screenshot App for client previews. Or I do Screenshots (!) from SLVP's. (Double resolution just to get finer OpenGL edges) Quote Link to comment
grant_PD
agree with you on the rendering aspect. These were just overhead shots and the client wanted them high resolution. Quote Link to comment
zoomer
In this case I would go the SLVP way, a separate SL for each VP/perspective with a suitable size/DPI. Publish (with or without re-rendering) And finally get rid of the borders in Photoshop. Quote Link to comment
grant_PD
yep. Was wanting to avoid that. Quote Link to comment
zoomer
I would also like to be able to do that like in other CAD or 3D Apps ..... Should be easy to get the Viewports from cropped perspectives. Ok, little tedious SL "layout" work. But at least it will help if you need the same shots later again after changes with the press of a button. Edited October 9, 2017 by zoomer Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Dave Donley Posted October 9, 2017 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted October 9, 2017 Batch render can do what you're asking, I think. Quote Link to comment
HEengineering
If your on a mac, you can simply command C and open the Preview program and .paste from clipboard. Not really the best as I would seggest export png, however this may do what your asking. Quote Link to comment
Jonathan Pickup
Dave’s suggestion is good, you should try that. Set up the batch reader jobs that you want, then batch render them all to the settings that you require. Quote Link to comment
mike m oz
Grant, have you tried using the Bitmap Render tool. Set the Preferences to what you want and then cut and paste the result to a Sheet Layer. You can then resize it if needed. Quote Link to comment
danm01
Honestly, I'm not sure why you would not want to use a Sheet Layer & Viewport. It makes it really easy. To get a specific resolution, you just need to use math. For instance, I have a SL set up as 20" wide by 11.25" tall. At 96 DPI, you get a 1920x1080 image. At 192 DPI, it's 4k. Publish to a JPG or PNG file and it looks great. Quote Link to comment
