CETLV
hey I was wondering if anyone had any input on files that are done of stage lines... I need to put up a mobile stage and just did not feel like building it from scratch. I have already submitted requests to stage line, and I guess I dont speak enough french. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Rob Books Posted October 3, 2017 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted October 3, 2017 We are working with them to make VW symbols of their stages. still in the development stage. Hopefully later this year or early next year we will have some out. Know it does not help you now. Rob. 1 Quote Link to comment
mreadshaw
You can request .dwg files and import them. I have converted all their stages to symbols this way. Not the most efficient from a resources standpoint but works well enough. Most everyone speaks English at SL. Shouldn't have a language issue if you use English. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Rob Books Posted October 17, 2017 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted October 17, 2017 Update. we have gotten the DWG from them, they are HUGE when imported, so we are cleaning them up to get rid of some of the minor details, like pneumatic charging connectors that are not needed. hopefully should have them all done for release on Service Select early in 2018. Vectorworks, Inc Employee Rob Books Posted May 15, 2018 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted May 15, 2018 Stagelines are available to Service Select customers under Objects-Ent Event in the Resource Manager, or on the web portal. Quote Link to comment
Thomas Klaiber
I can't find them on Vectorworks 2018 and yes I am a Service Select Customer. Is there by the way any other mobile stage available? (Alspaw for example?) Thanks for any help 🙂 Quote Link to comment
michaelk
There are a few different models there. SL100, 260, 320 and SAM 555, 575, 750. It's located at Downloads/Subscription Libraries / Entertainment / Entertainment - Stage - Stageline Or you could go to the Service Select page and search for Stageline. Quote Link to comment
NBarnes
I just added the SL100 object to my drawing, but I can't seem to get it to behave as a 3d symbol. It only shows up in plan view. I can get in an edit the 3D components. So, I know it exists as a 3D object. What silly setting am I missing? Thanks, NB Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Rob Books Posted February 8, 2019 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted February 8, 2019 right click on the symbol, uncheck the convert to groups, then place the symbol. Quote Link to comment
scottmoore
I took a shot at using the SL100 symbol the other day as I had not drawn one previously. I eventually gave up on all of the detail in the 3D model and replaced with simple geometry that made the difference between waiting for 10 secs or so on an OpenGL render to instantaneous. I certainly appreciate the detail but it is a lot and would take a very, very long time to render with a lot of other geometry. I am assuming those are the manufacturer’s files. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Rob Books Posted February 8, 2019 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted February 8, 2019 we did clean up the many nuts and bolts, and other extraneous things in the drawings that were sent to us and cleaned it up as best we could. but yes, much of it is the same DWG file you could download from the company website. and the SL100 for some reason is the heaviest of all the SL symbols. I felt like I could probably manufacture one from that symbol! It often gets overlooked, but than you to you and your team for all the hard work you’ve poured into this software. It is much appreciated. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee JustinVH Posted February 8, 2019 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted February 8, 2019 The big thing with the Stageline stages is that they wanted to do a review of the symbols before we released to the users and as a result the detail levels had to be as high as they are. Even on the SAM750 which is the biggest symbol they wanted us to keep all of the ceiling bracing in the model even if it was not viable for rigging purposes. Quote Link to comment
Joby Barnum
Are there any options to add the option for banner package, rainwalls, or wings available for the SL100? Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Rob Books Posted February 17 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted February 17 I believe that the SL100 2018 has what you are looking for. Stage line gave us each model as a static set up, they didn't give us separate parts. that is why there are 3 SL100 files, 3 different configurations. Quote Link to comment
