Revit Import 2018

had a go at importing the following sink :  https://bimobject.com/en/ceramica-catalano/product/catalano_basin_zero_100x50_cod_110ze00 in revit form.

 

A mess, 2018 was really slow and unresponsive after importing + very , very slow to import also.

I would prefer to convert into Solid Objects.

VW isn't so optimized to work with Meshes.

 

On the other hand it is also not unlikely that the Geometry in Revit itself

isn't that good either.

Same slowness if you don't choose the Mesh option? Agree with Zoomer about the Solids option, in my tests it was superior. Mesh Objects is the same (and only) option the previous version had and I would not expect a change in behavior.

Of course if the source is only a fuzzy mesh, the Solid conversion can't do better geometry

from it automatically and stores the same data - but a bit more effective for VW.

 

It may be worth to recreate this with true solid operations like Fillets and such things that will

create much smaller data.

Also, there is the new "Simplify Mesh" command on the Modify menu. This can do wonders for excessively tessellated meshes like the one you are showing...

Not tested yet,

but I am pretty sure that I will run that in the future over every furniture ressource that I load into a file.

Definitely try the Modify->Simplify Mesh command.  If your imports produce mesh objects it will reduce the face count of them way down without changing the character of the shape.  We hope to make simplify mesh more prominent in the import features in the future because it can potentially help a lot.  You don't have to drill down and select the meshes individually BTW, you can select a group or other container that has meshes inside and the meshes will be simplified.
