Larryren
I was wondering if anyone has created a variegated gel texture in VW. I tried to create a texture like I would a gobo and then using Gobo Slot Two without any luck. the color pallets wont let me chose multiple colors of course.... I created a PNG of the gel attached. Ideas? Tricks? Tips? Thanks! Quote Link to comment
JBenghiat
Though keep in mind that variegated gels work because they go in front of the lens, not at the gate. The result is a blended color not a sharp projection of the colors, that has particular interplay around shutter cuts, gobos, and shadows. Vectorworks doesn't quite have the capacity to perform that degree of simulation -- possible caustic photons and a modeled sheet of gel outside the lens will get you close, but the rendering time may not be worth it. Possibly a Photoshopped version of the gel with softer blends (approximating the end result, rather than the actual gel layout) will give you the best results. -Josh 1 Quote Link to comment
scottmoore
I am with Josh. I would create a graphic that already had a color effect applied to it. If if you don't have Photoshop or a similar program, I would recommend Pixelmater (if you are on a Mac) It's fairly intuitive and very cost effective. Quote Link to comment
