alih
Hi I am experienced Revit user but very beginner user of Vectorworks, I wants to make Model in Revit and then export to Vectorworks and give to interior team to work further on in Vectorworks. I know we can import the Revit model in Vectorworks 2017 but can we edit and make that model working file in Vectorworks? Many Thanks Ali 1 Quote Link to comment
zoomer
VW 2017 Revit import doesn't nearly fit my standards. You should take a look at the VW 2018 leaks section on this forum. I don't understand if the import will really import editable POI's from Revit Walls, Windows, Doors, ... but at least it sounds like getting some improvements. Quote Link to comment

Yes and No. Yes you can edit it and make it work but its a big manual effort. No because some objects are Revit entities and you may have to just remake them. I am hoping for better in 2018 especially with windows and doors which are currently handled pretty badly. If you happy to put a lot of manual work in then...... Quote Link to comment
alih
Thanks for reply I have exported the Revit model into Vectorworks, but everything just came up on one design layer and everything appears as one group which I can't ungroup or explode so I am just wondering how can I edit the model? zoomer
You will get much better results if you export IFC. Which doesn't mean that an IFC wall will be editable like a wall in VW again. If you really want to import Revit files, wait those 3 weeks until VW 2018 released and try again. But if I understand correctly, there still won't come in any plugin objects (PIO), just that the incoming geometry is not data crap like in VW 2017. If I remember correctly my first and only Revit import in the past, I was able to "ungroup" or expolode those imported parts. Not sure if that were standard groups that exploded by the standard CMD+U or by any other conversion attempts. Quote Link to comment
