Andrew Davies
Hi I am sure I have done this before, but can't seem to now. I have a 24" Television object (from Spotlight) and want to show it mounted in a plinth, leaning back at an angle. I go to a side view, Select the television, then the rotate tool, When I try and rotate it : In screen plane - nothing happens In screen aligned, I get the message "Hybrid objects can only be rotated in a plane parallel to the active layer plane. Would you like the working plane set to the active layer plane?" (Yes or no). Neither option helps. What am I missing?! Thanks, Andrew Quote Link to comment
markdd
Hybrid 2d/3D objects cannot be rotated about the X or Y axis. The 2D portion constrains that. If you want to rotate the TV set back (along the X or Y axis) then either remove he 2D portion or rotate the 3D portion inside the symbol definition. You will find this constraint on all Hybrid symbols. Spotlight symbols confuse this issue because they will rotate the 3d portion, but that is because the symbol has been converted to a plug-in object and the 3D portions have parts records attached.. Hope that helps Mark Edited August 22, 2017 by markdd 1 Quote Link to comment
Andrew Davies
Thanks so much Mark - that really helps. Will convert the object to a 3D symbol - then an auto hybrid. Wish I had as good a grasp of symbol types etc as you do! Andrew Quote Link to comment
K2D2
Hi Andrew & Mark, I too am having issues tilting a plug in tv object in Spotlight. I've tried following the steps and suggestions the both of you have commented on but nothing seems to be making sense. - I pull a correct size tv from the Television Tool. - Aligning the working plane doesn't allow to lock a new angle - I don't see anything 2D to remove when editing 2D components - Converting to a symbol still restrains any tilt ability because the hybrid element is still baked into the object. What am I missing? Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee klinzey Posted October 2, 2024 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted October 2, 2024 With Vectorworks 2025 just use the "Tilt" parameter. Positive numbers will tilt the TV towards the back of the TV. Quote Link to comment
