Pyrator
I was wondering how to create a 3d object that conforms to 2 curves IE -------------- -------------- ......- - ......- - .......- - ........- - -------------- -------------- -------------- The would be the right view (try to ignor the dots ) Top view is 0 a oval. It needs to follow the ovals shape but also do a curve from the right view kinda like a bent shape. Hence follow 2 cruves. Any help is greatly appericated. Quote Link to comment

P Retondo
Look in the manual to find out how to loft a shape from curves. Quote Link to comment
Pyrator
i dont see loft shape in the manual .. i am also using vectorworks 8.5.1 Quote Link to comment
Guest
VW 8 does not have loft functionaily. This was introduced in VW 9.5.0. You may want to consider upgrading to the latest version of VW for enhanced 3d solids modeling support. Quote Link to comment
Spencer
Lofting is in the 3D powerpac, standard in 9.x and up. You will have to upgrade. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Dave Donley Posted April 14, 2004 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted April 14, 2004 Hello Pyrator: If you can't upgrade right now, you could get a shape like this maybe by creating several ovals and doing a multiple extrude on them. The stacking order of the ovals on the drawing will be the same order for the cross sections of the extrude. So if you offset the ovals in the middle then the extrude will have a bend in the middle. The 3D Conversion Resolution preference affects the resolution of the extrude created, so you will probably want to set that to High when you create the extrude. If it is still not quite the shape you want, if you convert the multiple extrude to a mesh then you can nudge each vertex by selecting each vertex dragging a marquee rectangle around it, then either using the Object Info palette to move the vertex or by dragging it with the reshape tool. Note that the reshape tool uses the working plane when it moves vertices. HTH, Quote Link to comment
Pyrator
thank you for all your replys guys i managed to do it but it was kinda ....redundant and tedious i took the 3d polygon tool and went to the right view and "drew" the brace out then went to top view and moved each vertices one by one.,.. yikes .. lol Thank you though !!!
