Building site topograpy

I need some tips on topography and Vectorworks. I'm a total newbie on this, so I need you to be gentle.

 

Where can I find topographical data (Norway)?

How do I make a topographical 3D-map in Vectorworks from this?

 

Any help will be appreciated.

Hi, onyhus - In Vectorworks, 3d topography is created as a Site Model. The commands to create a Site Model are available in menus depending on your Vectorworks Industry Module workspace.

• AEC>Terrain Menu (Designer & Architect)

• Landmark>Create Site Model (Landmark)

 

Various methods of importing & creating site data are included in these menus.

The Site Model terrain can then be modified with tools in the Site Planning Tool Set.

 

••Site Model functions are not included with Vectorworks Spotlight or Fundamentals modules

 

Look at the Get Started guide (top post in this forum).

Read Vectorworks Help about Site Models.

Search for Site Model video tutorials available at Vectorworks Support and Vectorworks Service Select sites and from other sources.

Post questions at this forum any time.

 

Not sure where to find Norwegian topo data.

Regarding the Norwegian topography data, you may want to take a look at this website:
Open and free geospatial data from Norway (by the Norwegian Mapping Authority)

Is all topo in vector-works imported from CAD? I can't find any videos on the vectorworks youtube page where they are using lines to make topo. Can anyone explain this?
