Teaser Tuesday - Rendered Panoramas - Vectorworks 2018

Generally i've found that the process works well although render times are very long. I've had to split up my model onto different layers ( and selectively switch these layers off/on) as too often the render failed because of model complexity. Switching off soft shadows on light objects helps tremendously as well. I'd agree with previous comments about batch renders and more information about the render progress.

I recently discovered Rendered Panoramas - Great!!  But, I'm having some issues with the links:

 

Often, the dialogue window for the link doesn't appear (which I guess is a known problem):

The first few times I created Rendered Panoramas, the resulting browser view included a goggle (VR?) icon at the lower right, which made it easy to go into full screen viewing mode (I think it worked in both Safari and Chrome).  Now, no matter what I do, I never get that icon.  What am I missing?

 

I did figure out how to get links from Vectorworks Cloud Services, but when I use those links, the image is presented on the Cloud Services website (with comments at the right, etc.).

 

I then I found that if I add " ?viewer=panorama " to the end of the link, the view bypasses Cloud Services and will fill the entire browser window (as it does when the link is acquired from the link dialogue window).  But there's still no goggle icon...

 

Is there a way to get links from Cloud Services that will skip the website and include the goggle icon?...

Hi Jim,

I have a rendered panorama, if I copy/email the folder with the Browser index, the java file and the pano jpg it does not seem to run on other machines, what am I missing?

I may not understand, are you trying to host the pano on your own website, or share a link to it directly? The quickest way is sharing directly from the Cloud services portal.

I've had the render work from a local machine, and from a sent folder.

When you do the panorama render, you can create a new folder for it, which comprises a JavaScript file, an Index file and the Panorama jpg file

I have just opened Chrome, and it doesn't read the VW Panorama file…

I use Safari on my laptop and it works, but it doesn't work on colleagues laptops running safari…

It works on my Firefox too

Hello Di9it8,

I think this may be an issue with Safari 11 (prior versions are fine). Apple has updated its default protection mechanism. The browser can no longer access local files or resources located on a local drive (i.e. any file located within your /Users directory). Therefore, viewing local Web Views/Panoramas on Safari 11 will not work immediately. Luckily, there is a way to allow this to work again. However, the user needs to perform the following steps to allow this feature to work in Safari 11.

1.     Go to Safari -> Preferences

2.     Go to the “Advanced” and check the “Show Develop menu in menu bar.” This should initially appear unchecked.

3.     The new “Develop” menu should now appear in the menu bar. Select “Develop,” and then select “Disable Local File Restrictions.” Viewing Web Views/Panoramas locally in Safari should now work.
