markdd
Is there a way that one could attach a record to a symbol so that when it is inserted into a drawing it defaults to a pre-specified height? Many thanks Edited July 26, 2017 by markdd Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
I don't understand the question. I can read this about 3 different ways. Can you please explain more about what you want to do? Quote Link to comment
markdd
Hi I want to create a symbol that when I place it into a drawing always defaults to a Z height of 100mm. Thanks Pat Quote Link to comment
bcd
You can edit the symbol and move all the 3d components +100mm in z. The symbol height will still be z=0 but it's 3d components will be at the correct height. Auto-elevate to +100mm however isn't possible as far as I know. MullinRJ
Mark, You could also script a tool that would place a symbol where you click, then move it in the vertical direction to a 100 mm elevation. Raymond Quote Link to comment
RickR
How about using a layer that's higher? Quote Link to comment
markdd
I thought of using layer height but that's impractical for this instance. Because you can set a symbol to default to a particular class on insertion, I wondered if there was a clever scripting solution to add a default height to a symbol. Many thanks Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
It sounds like maybe the easiest solution if this is truly a fixed height would be to edit the symbol and move the objects up and then put a locus at the Z=0 insertion point. I am also playing with a container object that would always default to a fixed height, but I will probably get distracted before I make it work. :-( Quote Link to comment
markdd
At least you think its worth a try! Thanks Pat Quote Link to comment
