SCParker
I have a unit (lots actually) that I want to always use in mode 1. How do I get the mode to stick to the symbol in the resource manager? Thus, having the mode already set each time I insert the symbol... Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Edward Joseph Posted July 6, 2017 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted July 6, 2017 Hey Scott, unfortunately there's no way to do this. You can, however select all of the fixtures of the same type, and change them all at once. I'd use the Spotlight Find and Modify tool, select instruments of type X, then change the mode in the OIP. Should only take an extra 10 seconds per fixture type, especially if they're all going to be the same mode. Quote Link to comment
SCParker
Thanks Edward. I was afraid of that. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee klinzey Posted July 6, 2017 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted July 6, 2017 If you modify the Light Info Record attached to the symbol and set the "Inst Type" to the desired fixture mode exactly as shown in the popup it should automatically select that fixture mode on insertion. So the "Inst Type" should be something like "Martin Mac 250 mode 1" Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Edward Joseph Posted July 10, 2017 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted July 10, 2017 I didn't think of that, would it still show the other modes afterwards? I was under the impression that we linked .lit files to the Instrument Type, I was afraid changing that would sever that link, am I wrong? Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee klinzey Posted July 10, 2017 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted July 10, 2017 You would have to go the the Other choice to find the other modes or edit the Inst Type in the OIP of the selected light to remove the mode specific information to see the other mode choices in the popup.
