Peter N
I use VectorWorks to design customer and shop documents. Is there a way to derive a components and cut list from a drawing? Thanks Peter N Quote Link to comment
Petri
In many cases, yes, but it requires very careful planning & lots of discipline - often also some custom programming. Quote Link to comment
ccroft
By way of adding to Peti's reply: There isn't a ready-made solution,so you have to devise it yourself. My strategy has been to design symbols which contain parts that are assigned to classes, and then use worksheets to tally the parts by class and report their sizes. That's where you start.... I have been able to create a system that works for me.I learned a lot about this program along the way. Quote Link to comment
Kennedyme
@ Did you ever figure this out? I am looking for the same thing. I only need it to create a cut list from 2D shapes. Quote Link to comment
Peter N
Unfortunately, the answer was no. I build stuff in my woodshed and would love to find a way to either export a file that could be read by an independent provider or have something built in. Quote Link to comment
Kennedyme
@Peter N The closest I have come is by repurposing the space tool. If you use it to create your shapes, or convert your shapes into space tools, then you can also create a worksheet that directly lists the sizes of the shapes. Quote Link to comment
Kennedyme
@Peter N take a look at Elements CAD for Vectorworks Quote Link to comment
