Helen Palmer
I need to create a series of lines which emanate outwards from an irregular oval shape created by polylines. These lines need to be perpendicular to the oval at the point at which they are joined. Can I set a snap parameter to set this to work automatically? I'm sure I can do this, but I can't find the snap command. thanks Helen. vw2017 landmark sp3 Quote Link to comment
Kevin McAllister
Hi Helen, This should be easy to do. Make sure Snap to Object is on in Snapping Palette. It will also be easier if Snap to Grid and most of the others are off to start. Using the Line tool, start your line by clicking on one of your polylines where you would like a perpendicular line. Now hold down shift and one of the constraints will be the perpendicular position. A small tool tip will appear saying perpendicular. If the tool tip doesn't appear, hit the Y key to turn the tool tips on. Kevin Edited June 5, 2017 by Kevin McAllister Quote Link to comment
Helen Palmer
Fantastic - it's the tool tip that makes the difference as I was getting so many angles and snaps I couldn't work out which one was the perpendicular. thanks Helen. Quote Link to comment
