digitalcarbon
i showed this to a guy that just got VW this year, he immediately understood what it was and how it worked. his exact words were "its a hardware store" i did not have to explain how to find stuff in the Resource Browser (which i like but its still an abstract system) the more we mimic real life the less learning curve there is. digitalcarbon
so... with regard to the browser based versions of vw (IM) the web is the universe that contains all these "hardware stores" and you set up "teleportation" portals in the model that you are working on and it takes you to the hardware store and exact location for your product like a saved view but it takes you out of your file & into another file. digitalcarbon
like this, something to think about... people pay money and spend a ton of time on these games....why? these games are fun and VW (and all other BIM systems) are not. why was sketch-up a game changer? because it was fun. Christiaan
Ha, very good. It does make the Resource Browser seem a little antiquated. Quote Link to comment
Markvl
I've got some similarly organized items. I've got precast steps in a separate file but of all sorts of sizes and number of steps and aluminum railings to match to essentially drag and drop into new projects. Works great for me too. Markvl
Here is a couple of screen shots of what I've got. And like you mentioned @digitalcarbonI've built the stairs that get used the most. A work in progress. So you'll see I've got units with steps only and some with steps and landings. Also a few parts for foundation supports. The Steps are accurately modeled to reflect the real product. Edited May 24, 2017 by Markvl 1 Quote Link to comment
