jcaia
I've seen tutorials on site modeling in VW where the terrain (site model) has thickness to it - but no one explains how to get that thickness, which some apps call "terrain skirt". I've gone through the site model options and just can't see how this is done. Thanks for any help. Quote Link to comment
Benson Shaw
That's called the Site Model Hull, but skirt should be a valid search term! To make the hull visible, select the site model. In the OIP 3d Display button, choose 3d Mesh Solid. The other 3d display modes do not show the hull. HTH -B Edited May 7, 2017 by Benson Shaw More 1 Quote Link to comment

However, is there a way to control the min. size?? Edited May 7, 2017 by jcaia Quote Link to comment
Benson Shaw
Hull depth is controlled by min/max elevations in Site Model Settings. Esp the min value. Select the site model>OIP>Site Model Settings> Maximum elevation & Minimum elevation (Located upper middle of the dialog box). Note that max and min values also control how much of the sight model surface is visible. eg if max value is lower than z value at top of highest hill, the top of the hill will appear truncated down to that max value. Setting the min value far below the lowest contour will make a deep hull. Combine that with the OIP field for Geometry Lowest z. This raises and lowers the whole site model relative to the layer plane. Careful with this, though. It also causes corresponding adjustment of elevation/contour label z values. -B Edited May 7, 2017 by Benson Shaw blah blah blah 1 Quote Link to comment

Works perfectly. Quote Link to comment
