Window glazing opacity

Recommended Posts

All the glazing in my windows seems to be opaque.

I have checked again and again that the glazing is set to the correct class (Glazing - clear) but I cannot seem to get it right.

I have even created a new class with no fill and tried to set the glazing to that one but it makes no difference.

If I set the whole window to that class, the frame becomes clear but the glazing is still opaque.

What am I doing wrong?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I should mention that I'm using Vectorworks 2014

I didn't realize you were using Vw2014 Architect without Renderworks -

I believe that you do need to have Renderworks in order to see the 'Walls / Roofs / Other' tabs on the Class Attributes that @Alan Woodwell mentioned. (In Vw2017, Renderworks is included with all packages so it is no longer an add-on, but in 2014 it was an add-on).

@JimW- I don't know how Vw2014 Architect (without Renderworks) controls the appearance of Door & Window components so that Glass looks transparent, not opaque.

Thank you everyone:)

I have switched off the glass class entirely which has resolved the problem.

I am now looking into purchasing Renderworks:$

I concur with the others. Do not spend money upgrading a 3+-year-old program.

Just be aware that if you do consider upgrading to Vw2017, it is much more taxing on your computer than Vw2014, especially on the graphics card. Depending on how old your computer is, it may not run 2017 as quick and / or reliably as 2014.
