barkest
In VW I make a box and a light and then make it a symbol. I make some copies of the symbol and then send it to C4D. In C4D the boxes are instances but the lights are split out from them and not included in the instance. In this case I would expect the light should be part of the instance Also, if I then drag the light into the symbol in C4D, which then makes it part of the instance under the null the light does not show. The reason is that render instance (see attached) has been checked by VW. Uncheck to see the light. Does anyone know if this is a known issue? thanks Quote Link to comment
zoomer
Outside of VW, Lights in Symbols are often problematic. For example VRAY in C4D can't stand them at all. And I think Render Instances are even more reduced in functionality than normal C4D Instances. Therefore the are more lightweight and render even faster. So Lights seem to be not full executed in Render Instances. (OK, I see it is documented in C4D help that lights will not work in RI's) Quote Link to comment

Maybe the export from VW can leave the light in the symbol and turn off RI Quote Link to comment
