nca777
Trying to export an IFC of our site model, which is not very complex. I've tried it on several projects of varying scales to no avail. Is there a workflow specifically for exporting site models? Quote Link to comment
rowbear97
nca777, Looks like Revit will create a site model from 3D contours. I'm not sure you can need to export the DTM as an IFC. Quote Link to comment
rowbear97
@nca777 I did a little more investigating and while I wasn't able to export the site model as an IFC I did come across a way to get a fairly clean 3D Polygon version. When exporting you site model make sure that you have changed the site model 3D visualization to contours no mesh. Once you have done that you export as a 3DS file. Bring that back into Vectorworks and you will then be able to select the triangular 3D polygons and deleting them leaving behind only the contours. Hope this helps. 1 Quote Link to comment
ScottLebsack
Thanks for the research, I'm attempting to define a workflow that allows me to share grading, slabs etc. with an architect for inclusion in sections and 3d presentations for Design review. Any additional help would be appreciated. Edited July 30, 2018 by ScottLebsack grammar Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Tamsin Slatter Posted July 28, 2018 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted July 28, 2018 To export the Vectorworks Site Model to IFC, it has to be on a design layer that is mapped to the story 'Site' on the Export IFC Project dialogue. Hope that helps. Quote Link to comment
rowbear97
I did this and made sure that the export site model was checked and the resulting output was only my hardscapes that are also site modifiers. Any future input will be greatly appreciated from anyone. Quote Link to comment

rowbear97
@Tamsin Slatter I was working on assignment in Australia at the time and no longer have access to the Vectorworks file. I will look into this and try with a different file. Thanks for following up. Quote Link to comment
