Bryan_dup1
I've just purchased my first laptop and miss the quick change view abilities of using the key pad on a full size keyboard. What is the work around be on a laptop? How do the rest of you deal with this without using the pull down menu? I don't want to carry and use an external keypad/keyboard. Thanks for any input. Richard Anderson
I'm still puzzled about what it is you need but it sounds like you have things under control. As an extra, I recently changed the default "redo" key command to the somewhat standard "cmd-shift-Z". By default, this brings up the plug-in creator dialogue. I assigend the new command in the system pref's and changed the assignment in Vectorworks. (The new "redo"short-cut takes effect only after logging out and in again.) Quote Link to comment
Bryan_dup1
I change from top, front, side, and 4 iso views when drawing and have the habit of changing those views on the keyboard. My laptop doesn't have the 0 thru 9 keypad to which these views are assigned by default. Quote Link to comment
propstuff
Hi Bryan, on my TiBk the keypad is "under" keys uio, jkl&m. The are accessed by holding down the "fn" key (bottom left) and work as normal. ps I hate the nasty keyboards on laptops and always use an external when not away :-) cheers, N. Quote Link to comment
Bryan_dup1
Thanks Nicholas, I just received my Powerbook on Monday and hadn't noticed the FN key there until you pointed it out. [ 12-12-2003, 04:51 PM: Message edited by: Bryan ] Quote Link to comment
Richard Anderson
WHich size P-book are you using Bryan? And which key commands have you found yourself missing? I ask because I go from desktop to 15" TiBook often and it takes a bit for the new spatial recognition in my fingers to sink in. Quote Link to comment
Bryan_dup1
Thanks Richard, I have the 12" with a 17" external Apple Display. Quote Link to comment
Guest
You will need to use the workspace editor and set keyboard shortcuts for the views. Top Plan has a shortcut already assigned, but can be changed. Quote Link to comment
Bryan_dup1
Thanks Richard & Katie, Now I just have to find open key combinations or change some. Quote Link to comment
