freerangetulip
Hello! I'm working to figure out the best way to export a useful DWG. I'm wondering, is there any way to maintain Symbol names (ex. S4-36deg) in the exported DWG block? They are currently exporting as a seemingly random array of numbers. Thank you! bcd
Be sure Export Groups as Anonymous Blocks is not selected in the DWG Export>Symbols & Groups panel Quote Link to comment
freerangetulip
Yup, made sure that wasn't selected, and it's still exporting sans block name. Light Plot.dwg Quote Link to comment
bcd
Gottcha. Ok, you're not really exporting symbols in this instance rather Lighting Instruments that use a hybrid symbol as their graphic object. The numbers are not random, they are the internally assigned VW number for each instrument. In a duplicate file: Select all the lighting, Modify>Convert>Convert to Group. This will extract the Symbols. Now if you perform the export the DWG you will get the named Symbols in place as expected. Quote Link to comment
freerangetulip
Okay, that makes sense. I followed your instructing however and the same thing happened where the name of the symbols aren't showing up... Attached is the file and a screenshot of my export to dwg.
