Applying gobo texture to Lighting fixtures crashes the Vectorworks 2017

Gabriel Chan

Question

Hi all,

Followed the Vectorworks video online https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4znYJ8qCxcg&index=16&list=PLiLCoe7DU1HZZEmPKJoBCLBGNPnMhZfTp in an attempt to apply gobo textures into my drawing.

In the "Edit Lighting Device" dialogue, I click the "Get Resource" button, select the gobo texture I imported, clicked OK once to exit the "Import External Resource" pop up. On the next click on the OK button to exit the "Edit Lighting Device" dialogue, Vectorworks immediately crashes.

I am currently on Vectorworks 2017, with a mid 2012 Retina MacBook Pro.

Any ideas to what might be causing this?

Hi JimW,

Resetting Vectorworks Preferences, step number

2) Throw away the “ net.nemetschek.vectorworks20XX.plist” file from 'HD > Library > Preferences'

I find 2 files:

net.nemetschek.vectorworks.plist

net.vectorworks.vectorworks.2017.plist

None of which tally with the file string name. Do I delete both in this case?

Thanks for the quick response by the way.

Did a full uninstall of the software and a clean install. This time round without using migration assistant to port over my workspace settings from my 2011 version.

Seems to have resolved the problems when applying the gobo to the lighting device.

I suspect it might have been some remnants of my VW2011 workspace preferences causing the problem.
