Meanwhile, after going from :

to

>>> I absolutely love this way of working mode.

Especially working with the Pen feels so great.

Touch is not that important, but still nice while holding food when working and such ;)

I am not sure if I understand.

Why do you want both ?

So like having a MS Surface Studio, with keyboard and mouse but touching on screen

with the other hand from time to time ?

Isn't a standard little graphic tablet with its pen a total replacement for just the mouse ?

Of course you can switch between both.

With its broad borders, especially the 27 Cintiq does not really allow a keyboard.

At least when you want to use it horizontal. But using a mouse beside it is no issue.

News from the Dell Canvas side.

I saw a beta test of a digital painter.

Still not released and some smaller driver issues.

Canvas seems to be the better Wacom and pretty ok.

If you are a Windows user :

- Price is less

- RGB colors better

- it has no parallax problem !!!

- it lays really level on your desk

- it includes 2 surface dials in 2 sizes

- Pen quality equal to Wacom

- it has screen spaces for different purposes

- it has a lot of nice UI elements like File Browser, Previews, Custom Tool Boxes, ...

And ....

for Mac users, it runs with Wacom drivers on macOS !

(in a limited way) That means :

- no pen angle recognition,

- none of the Dell/Windows UI features,

- no Dials.

That's a pity and a no go for painters,

but still provides all functionality that I use with my Wacom Cintiq for

macOS, 3D and CAD !

I have a Cintiq at work and I have tried to get it to work with VW. I went and changed some of the buttons on the sides of the screen to be VW commands and have had some success with it. What would make a huge difference is if my Cintiq was a touchscreen as well that way I could have the keyboard on the screen

I can use my Onscreen Keyboard with one-handed Pen Input in most Apps.

It does not work for me with Touch and two-handed.

While there is a visual feedback for Pen by highlighting keys when pressed,

this does somehow not work when touching with fingers and also keys sometimes

hang in a permanent press mode ! (Wacom Driver ?)

The next problem with Onscreen Keyboard  in VW, even with Pen Input, is that it

will make jump the cursor to your keyboard, which will destroy your coordinate

input and direction while numeric input.

Normally, for all 3D/CAD Apps, I have Touch input OFF.

It is too risky that an unwanted touch will grab your cursor and destroy things while

using a Tool.

The biggest impact in improving Tablet Workflow, for VW or other Tools that are not

compatible with Pen or Touch Input, is pimping the Right Click Context Menu

(Didn't use that very much before)

and to reduce Click Sensitivity of the Pen for those Apps.

I would be very curious about how VW behaves on a Microsoft Pen/Touch device like

Surface Studio. I think their Touch is auto-locked when the Pen is near. Also there is no

Pen Angle Recognition and the Pen more optimized for controlled click input vs painting

on a Wacom.
