Christiaan
I find it very difficult to get any substantive cloud reflections in windows when rendering. Any tips? Quote Link to comment
zoomer
It is in your Render Style > Background > Environment Reflections where you can set a different Texture Map than what is seen by Camera or Environment Lighting. 1 Quote Link to comment
Christiaan
Yeah done that, thanks, but it never creates enough cloud reflections for my liking. Nowhere near it. Edited January 10, 2017 by Christiaan Quote Link to comment
zoomer
The rest is material settings, while physical glass being a dielectric with typical low reflection value of only about 4% but 100% fresnel, will soon look not so physical if you increase reflection value at 0°. So cloud reflections mainly when seen from the side. Next can be to increase the contrast and brightness of the environment reflection texture used for reflection, and finally faking in post production. (Where it it would be nice to render reflection masks at separate channel) Quote Link to comment

Are you suggesting settings here? Quote Link to comment
zoomer
Yes and no. I propose workarounds but am a physical based rendering evangelist. And can't resist to palm my view of things off while answering questions But important is that you reach the result that you want. In many cases that does not mean to be realistic. Vectorworks, Inc Employee Luis M Ruiz Posted January 10, 2017 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted January 10, 2017 (edited) How about posting a sample pict of what you'd like to achieve and I may be able to tailor a file that will include custom materials and a rendering style? Thanks zoomer, this solved my problem. I wish I'd understood it properly when you first posted it! I also made a wish relating to this: Edited June 1, 2017 by Christiaan Quote Link to comment
