Change Default Properties

I am using the cable tool to plan the cable layout for an upcoming show. After I insert the first cable and set its properties it doubles as the default setting for every other cable I insert using that tool. Is there a way to change that default after the first instance has been inserted? Basically, so that once I have done all my 4Pin data, I can set a new default to 5Pin...

When in the cable tool, the mode bar should have a Preferences button which looks like a wrench and pencil. Clicking on this will set the parameters for all future cables.
