Curved Walls in Hidden Line

Hi,

 

I'd like to know if this is not possible or if I'm doing something wrong.

 

I've drawn three identical curved walls and placed them one on top of the other. Why do the horizontal lines show up? Shouldn't it be all like one big curved wall?

 

I hope I'm doing something wrong!

And when you add a straight wall to the curved wall you will have another line you cant get rid of as well.

Yes, even in viewports, where straight walls looks like one wall, round walls don't "join"

A fix for this bug is looong overdue - I'd venture this has been around for as long as Vw has had 3D functionality.

 

The only time hidden line should show a line between two exactly coplanar objects / surfaces is if they are of dissimilar materials.

I have it files as a bug but it may need to go in as an enhancement request, much to my (and I'm sure others') dismay.

It is a bug, unfortunately, but should the resolution be faster if it files as wish, please, let it be a wish! 

 

We collectively wish round walls not to leave lines around. I feel safe to speak for most here.

Out of pure curiosity, who wishes that round walls don't join and show dismembered in viewports, renderings or any form of view -even in plans, under certain conditions- please raise a hand.

Not resolved and I don't have the feeling that it ever will before me to retire.

I cannot state loudly enough how this issue is annoying. An endless bucketload of inefficiency to get around problems.

There isn't.

For the curved walls there is a work-around in HLR, though it's inconvenient. Create a very thin external component for the top-most wall, and extend the bottom of it to the bottom of the stack.

I should have been more specific: OpenGL will render the curved joins more smoothly in higher resolution, yes, if you want to deal with the performance. But all the other fine rendering modes I have found to leave the jagged lines visible more or less.
