lisagravy
Hi there, I have created a site model in Landmark / Renderworks, and created a series of polygons which I converted to 'Landscape Areas' set to render as texture beds, and sent to surface. I can see these clearly in top / plan view, but in any flyover or render view I they disappear - even in final renderworks render settings! Can anyone help me with what I'm missing? Thanks, Lisa Quote Link to comment
bcd
Change the 3d display of your Site Model (DTM) to display Proposed Only and click Update btw you shouldn't need to Send to Surface as the Landscape Area tool does this automatically. Quote Link to comment
lisagravy
Thanks for your reply - I've checked and the 3d display of my site model is already set to Proposed Only. (3d mesh solid? Is this ok?) I've tried clicking update and I still can't see my landscape areas in 3d. Good to know I don't need send to surface for future! Quote Link to comment
bcd
Yes, this should work. I'm having the opposite issue : not able to see the 2d plants in a Landscape Area. Quote Link to comment
lisagravy
It's even more frustrating to know I'm doing it correctly and it's still not working! Thanks for your help. re: your issue... the converse of your advice would be to make sure your 2d display is set to existing + proposed, I'm assuming you've checked that? Quote Link to comment
J. Wallace
I find texture beds to be quite tricky. Here's my procedure: Create landscape area (this could be a hardscape or other texture bed) Open up the landscape area settings and ensure that the texture bed setting is set (I'm sure you have done this) While the landscape area is selected click on the render tab and ensure the texture you want is selected. Avoid using class texture. Under Landmark/send to surface, while in top plan Update site model...while in top plan (doesn't seem to work otherwise so this might be a bug) PS if I do the above procedure in anything but top plan it doesn't work in fact my landscape area turns into a 3d loci. Hope that helps. This procedure seems to work for all texture bed applications (hardscape, and texture bed site modifiers) 3 Quote Link to comment
bob cleaver
J. Wallace, thank you for the quick easy guide We have many of the same issues with 3D loci showing up in renderings Bob C Quote Link to comment
J. Wallace
My pleasure @bob cleaver, this forum has helped me out many, many times. It's great to give back when I can. Quote Link to comment
Jonathan Pickup
Hi Bob, if you have 3-D loci I showing up instead of plants, it's usually because you haven't got a 3-D component in your plant 2 Quote Link to comment

Thanks, Lisa I have this exact same problem - I have looked down the forum and tried everything that people have said but it still doesn't seem to work. Does anyone have anymore suggestions? I'm using Vectorworks Landmark 2020 Quote Link to comment
lisagravy
@Cara2 In 'landscape area settings' make sure the 3D display is set to texture bed or 3d plants and not 2d only? And in the class, go to textures and make sure there is a texture set! Those were the issues I had I think from memory. Edited March 10, 2020 by lisagravy 1 Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Tamsin Slatter Posted March 10, 2020 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted March 10, 2020 And don't forget to update your site model! The texture beds won't update until the site is updated. Quote Link to comment
Cara2
Thanks @lisagravy and @Tamsin Slatter but I've tried those ideas and it's still not working! It worked yesterday when I opened the file but not today - do you think there is a glitch? Quote Link to comment
parveenkd
Hi Cara2 and everyone, I'm also having the same problems as Cara. I've changed all the landscape areas to texture beds and still can't get any of them to surface. They all have textures and have their 3D display is set to display texture beds. Quote Link to comment
Cara2
@parveenkd A checklist of things I try when they don't work: Refresh site model by clicking 'Update' Make sure site model is showing 'proposed' not 'existing' Make sure site model is set to read 'all layers' in site model settings > general > use site modifiers on > 'All Layers' Change texture bed to 3D poly, update model, then change back to texture bed. Sometimes resetting it seems to make it work Make sure the class the texture bed is on or the render settings of your texture bed, has a texture. If there is no texture, just a fill colour or outline colour, it wont show as a texture bed in 3D. Make sure all the layers and classes the texture beds and site model are one, are visible. Texture beds are only visible in 3D when the site model is on. Make sure all of your texture bed is on the site model and not hanging off it. If it goes beyond the boundaries of the site model, it may not work. This is all I can think of for now. Please correct me if anything I have said is incorrect. I hope this helps! Vectorworks, Inc Employee Tamsin Slatter Posted May 4, 2020 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted May 4, 2020 And, make sure your site model is set to be updated by the layer that the landscape area is on. In the Site Model settings, you can choose which layers impact the site model. Quote Link to comment
