BUG: 2017 symbol issues

Been running into a few problems with symbols in 2017 I've never seen before:

 

1. When I layer a normal 2D symbol on top of a lighting instrument, then zoom out, the stacking order gets messed up and the lighting instrument is on top.
2. Double clicking a 2D symbol in the resource manager brings up the symbol selection tool, yet when I click to place the symbol, I get the error "A symbol needs to be selected." It can still be dragged from the resource manager to be placed, but this is inconvenient. I never encountered this issue in previous versions.

For number 2, check that the mode bar is set to the first mode "Standard Insertion Mode." I have found that every once in a while it somehow switches itself to the third mode, "Symbol Pick up Mode" which is probably why you're getting the "A symbol needs to be selected" error. This could happen by accidentally tapping the "u" key, but I've seen it switch to that mode on its own. If it's a bug, thankfully it's one that's easily dealt with by putting it back on the correct mode.
