Linking object info to record formats

Information like that is already "attached" to objects.  No need for a record format.  Look at "Insert > Functions" from the worksheet menu to see object attributes like position, height, width, area, volume, etc. that you can call without record formats.

If you want to attach a record format, create it from the resource manager.  Then select the object, go to the data tab in the OIP and click on attach record.

It can be, but it's a bit harder to work out.
Each IFC data field is split into 3 record fields, for which two describe the name and type, the third one the value. This makes it harder to find the field you want to display, as the field name might be something like "Field 1" etc..
