10.5 unexpectedly quitting -OSX10.2.6

Recommended Posts

Good morning.

Having read through a fair few of the other posts relating to unexpected quits, I've realised this is the place to bring my woes - Katie come to the rescue again!

A client of mine has recently purchased another dongle and media kit of Vectorworks 10.1.2 and has installed onto a G4 iMac (Flatscreen). The mac is running 10.2.6 and has the USB dongle sitting in the keyboard USB port.

Randomly and without provocation, Vectorworks will unexpectedly quit and dump the user back to the OS. She can restart the program without error and continue working. This error seems to happen approximately four times per day, so its not a regular error but very random in its occurence.

Having searched around, I downloaded the 10.5 update for VW and installed onto the clients machine. The error is still appearing. The client has an identical mac running identical software (including versions) and is not having any issues.

Any information you could provide me with would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,

The first thing I'd do is have the user run Disk Utility. Verify and fix disk permissions.

Actually, before that, see if when VW goes to demo mode, they've just awakened from a sleep -either hard drive sleep or monitor sleep.

If the problem persists, try to see what the user is doing for the few mins before the demo mode or unexpected error occurs.

Also try to gather information on printing - if they've printed and how many times they've accessed the page setup or print dialog box in the single session of VW.
