mac@stairworks
I can't seem to get Vectorworks to render a 3d model in Open GL and Orthogonal view when I switch from Top Plan view to a 3D view (i.e.: Right Isometric). The model shows in wireframe. Am I missing something? (screenshot attached) Also, is there a shortcut (or is it possible to create one) for toggling associative dimensioning on/off. I found that using associative dimensioning in viewports work well in case you move the original drawing. The dimensions will move with the objects in the viewport as apposed to having to move or redo all of your dimensions. Probably nothing new, I just realized it myself. Quote Link to comment
zoomer
For me it always worked with VW 2016 and 2017. I remember that as I currently often switch between these Modes in Quick Prefs Bar. Quote Link to comment
mac@stairworks
Thanks Zoomer. So is there another setting I am missing? Vectorworks 2016 is up to date so I don't so where the issue is. Quote Link to comment
zoomer
I don't think so. (Is this maybe a Sierra thing or are you still on El Capitan ?) But when I switch to e.g. Wireframe Mode in View manually, it will not switch back to OpenGL when switching between 3D Views. Only when you use Top Plan View and then switch again to a 3D View. And I found in VW 2017 (Sierra ?), that if you keep your Default Setting to OpenGL and switch back to Wireframe all the time manually, after 3 times or so, it keeps Wireframe Setting even if you change to Top Plan View in between (?) mac@stairworks
Thanks Zoomer. I'm using El Capitan. It works on my other Mac using Mavericks and Vectorworks 2015. Quote Link to comment
zoomer
Can't remember to have that default view setting not working in El Capitan to Sierra, VW 2015-2017 So maybe your whole VW Preferences went mad on this computer ? But please wait for other user's answers before you delete these .... Quote Link to comment
mac@stairworks
This is a new Mac Book Pro as of June with a new install of VW2016. Thanks again for your help. I appreciate it. Quote Link to comment
Andy Broomell
Regarding the dimensions question... That's under File < Document Settings < Document Preferences - see screenshot below. You'll have to turn it off individually in each file you work on. If you want it to automatically be off when you start a new file, you can open the template from which you start new files, turn the setting off, then re-save the template. Quote Link to comment
mac@stairworks
Thanks Andy, I just figured I could toggle it on and off just to dimension objects in a viewport without having to go back and forth to the doc prefs. Other than that I generally don't associate dimensions. Quote Link to comment
Andy Broomell
It seems like there should just be a mode button in the dimension tool to turn auto-associate on and off, doesn't it? Quote Link to comment
mac@stairworks
Now THAT would be sweet! I second that. Wishlist? ...Please Quote Link to comment
