Bruce Kieffer
Is there a way to import an Illustrator CS5.1 file into Vectorworks? Best I can get is a bitmap. I need to be able to edit text. Quote Link to comment
0 Art V
Yes, the conversion is not perfect, it is just that some things translate in a way that the software at the end of the chain (vw in this case) cannot fully import (yet). Given the extra work you have to do on some things you're indeed better off using Affinity Designer for now. The major hurdle here is that Vectorworks does not seem to import solid hatches without an outline. So one more thing for the wish list, I guess. If it would do that then the cleaning up would be relatively easy (set transparency for background image and correct some font spacing). Quote Link to comment
0 grant_PD
Can we please be able to import .ai files and work with them? 2 Quote Link to comment
0 Kevin McAllister
I'm going to point you in the direction of this wish as it already has a wish number in the NV system - @Jim Wilson are you able to combine this into the existing thread so all the votes go to the same place? 0 mjm
Just tried to import, even tho @grant_PD correctly replied 'no option'. I also checked the workspace editor in case there was an SVG import option available to be installed SVG-no.mp4 1 Quote Link to comment

0 trashcan
For anyone still trying to do this (I.e., everyone). What works for me is saving the AI file as a DXF (export as...), then importing it as such. I then simplify the polys because it comes in pretty over the top most times. Quote Link to comment
0 trashcan
I google this every time I forget how to do it and it still works great. Quote Link to comment
